Strategic budgeting and planning is critical in achieving the Fijian Government’s priorities, as articulated in Fiji’s 5-Year and 20 Year National Development Plan (NDP).

The Budget and Planning Division is responsible for the Government’s development plan that is usually prepared for a five year term and reviewed on an annual basis. The Division also prepares the annual budget estimates that allocate resources for the implementation of the operating and capital budgets for whole of government.

The Division’s strategic priority is the allocation of resources to priority sectors as outlined in the NDP. The goals of the Division is

  • To ensure that the Budget is formulated in line with the Budget Strategy;
  • Efficient facilitation of Budget projects and programmes in line with the Financial Management Act 2004, Finance Instructions 2010 and the Procurement Regulations 2010; and
  • To undertake Quarterly Monitoring and Evaluation to ensure projects and programmes are implemented according to the Annual Work programme.
